Y-North Social Impact Measurement (2025)
Project Lead: Tony O’Connor
In a sector where outcomes matter more than outputs, the Y Social Impact Project is helping Y-North shift from counting participation to understanding the difference it makes. Currently underway, the initiative is building a robust, light-touch framework to help Y-North evidence its social impact across diverse business units - from camps and recreation to youth development and older adult programs.
The project is deeply participatory, with Y-North’s Youth Advisory Panel and senior leadership embedded in the design and delivery process. Together, they’re defining what “impact” means in practice, piloting tools that capture meaningful change, and aligning measurement with strategic goals like community wellbeing, meaningful work, and a just world - pillars drawn from YMCA’s Vision 2030
Rather than overwhelming staff with data demands, the approach emphasises “just enough” evidence - making it easier to show funders not just what the Y does, but why it matters. From workshops with young people to outcome mapping and survey integration, the Y Social Impact Project is laying the groundwork for a future where impact is visible, credible, and actionable
